"Ant Works - A SPACE AGE HABITAT FOR ANTS!" - by Brainstorm's Fascinations.AntWorks® is based on a 2003 NASA Space Shuttle experiment to study animal life in space and test how ants successfully tunnel in microgravity. The AntWorks® jelly-like Gel is complete with nutrients to promote healthy growth in the new colony. Once set up, sit back and watch ants live, work and tunnel in the nutritious and non-toxic gel as they create series upon series of intricate tunnels.HOW DOES IT WORK?Simple. The AntWorks is filled with nutritious, non-toxic gel into which you make four holes in to get the tunnel network started. Next you need to catch about 15 ants to populate the colony, put them in the Ant Works, replace the lid... and wait. The ants will burrow out an amazing pattern of channels, each clearly visible in cross-section through the walls of the container within days. Maintenance is minimal - as ants need no food or water because as well as providing a safe ecologically-correct habitat, the gel also provides the ants' food.TIPS: Worried about your ants escaping - cover the two small air holes on top with a piece of tape for a couple of weeks until your ants have settled in. The ants will appreciate some fresh air once a week - all you need to do is open the lid for a while once a month to air the interior - just remember to replace it!Ant behaviour will vary seasonally. If your ants huddle or don't tunnel as much as you expected, don't forget you can always find more and start again.AntWorks® Habitat includes:Magnifying GlassExtreme Zoom LensAnt Catching/Tunnel Starter ToolInstruction Booklet withInteresting Facts About AntsDimensions: 6.5" L x 5.5" W x 1.25" D.
